PP

Polypropylene (PP)

Description

Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer produced by chain polymerization of propene. It belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partly crystalline and nonpolar. Its properties are similar to polyethylene (PE), but PP is harder and more heat resistant. Polypropylene is the second most commonly used standard plastic and is often used in packaging.

Properties of PP

  • Low density
  • High resistance to fatigue
  • Better melting and long-term use temperature, stiffness, hardness and strength than polyethylene.
  • Resistant to fats and almost all organic solvents
  • Odorless and skin-friendly
  • Flexibility

Applications of PP

Machine and vehicle construction, interior fittings for cars, dashboards, battery cases, wire and cable sheathing, insulating films, fittings, piping, packaging materials, cups, bottle caps, internal parts for dishwashers, cooking film.
