Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)

Description

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic which belogs to the family of polyesters. PET has a wide range of uses and among other things it is used for the production of plastic bottles (PET bottles), films and textile fibers.

Properties of PET

  • High strength and stiffness
  • Very strong and easy
    Good gas and moisture barrier properties
  • Good electrical insulation properties
  • High heat resistance
  • Resistant to alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils, fats and dilute acid

Applications of PET

Plastic bottles, flexible food packaging, thermal insulation, tape applications, film, solar cells, 3D plastic printing (PETG), carpeting, clothing, sleeping bags, headphone cables.
